Built to grow with sigo

As sigo expanded its station-based e-cargo bike and e-bike sharing operation across Germany, it needed a technology platform flexible enough to evolve with the business.

The operation today

  • ~400Bikes
  • ~200Stations
  • 40+Cities & municipalities
  • 30+Partners
  • ~35,000Registered users
  • ~20,000Annual rides

The metric sigo is particularly proud of: thousands of residents use sigo bikes every month as part of their daily mobility, replacing short car trips with sustainable alternatives.

01 — The operation

Short trips, without the car

Overcrowded city centres are increasingly struggling with traffic congestion, limited public space and a severe shortage of parking. Private cars remain the default choice for many short urban journeys, even when they are inefficient and occupy valuable space for most of the day.

sigo green GmbH is a German provider of fully integrated e-cargo bike and e-bike sharing systems, developing and operating station-based sharing solutions that enable cities, housing companies and businesses to offer sustainable mobility with minimal operational effort.

Its primary customers are municipalities, housing companies, mobility providers and corporate partners that want to offer sustainable mobility to residents, employees or visitors.

Not free-floating, by design

Unlike many free-floating systems, sigo operates a station-based sharing model with intelligent charging stations. Its focus is on premium e-cargo bikes and family mobility rather than short inner-city commuter trips. This creates a highly reliable service with predictable vehicle availability, automatic charging and lower operational complexity.

sigo addresses this challenge by supporting the vision of the 5-minute city: essential destinations such as shops, schools, workplaces and services should be easily accessible within a few minutes without relying on a private car.

02 — The challenge

The operation outgrew the software model

Over the past twelve to twenty-four months sigo expanded into new cities and housing developments, saw continuous growth in registered users and ride numbers, and migrated to the new LISA platform.

As the business continued to grow, it needed a software platform that could evolve with it. sigo was looking for greater flexibility, faster development cycles, improved operational tools and a platform that could support its growing fleet and increasingly complex business requirements.

Because sigo combines different vehicle types, charging stations, hardware integrations and multiple partner models, it required a highly flexible platform that could adapt to its business rather than forcing it to adapt to the software.

  • Different vehicle types in one fleet
  • Charging stations
  • Hardware integrations
  • Multiple partner models
  • Greater flexibility and faster development cycles
  • Improved operational tools
  • A platform that scales with the fleet
  • Scalability, stability and openness to new ideas
Adam Zaiter, Tech Lead at LISA Solutions
“SIGO is a good example of why shared mobility software needs to be flexible. Their operation combines different vehicle types, charging infrastructure, hardware integrations and multiple partner models. Our job has been to bring that complexity into one platform while keeping the day-to-day operation simple for the SIGO team.”

03 — The decision

Why sigo chose LISA

A key reason for sigo's decision was the exceptional level of close, personal support LISA provided throughout the process.

In particular, LISA made a substantial number of adjustments and customisations specifically tailored to sigo. Many features, processes and workflows were adapted to reflect sigo's operational model, rather than requiring sigo to change its business to fit a rigid, off-the-shelf solution.

The most important factors in sigo's decision

  • Exceptional close and personal collaboration
  • Highly responsive, committed and solution-oriented support
  • Significant effort invested in understanding the business and operational needs
  • Extensive customisations and adaptations specifically tailored to sigo
  • Flexibility and openness to new ideas
  • Fast development and implementation of new features
  • Strong technical capabilities and reliable integrations
  • A scalable platform that supports continued growth
  • A shared understanding of the operational realities of shared mobility

04 — The platform

One platform for the whole operation

sigo identifies eight parts of the LISA platform as the most important for its operation.

  1. Fleet Management
  2. Customer Management
  3. Customer App
  4. Flexible payment and pricing settings
  5. Station Management
  6. Analytic Dashboard and Tools
  7. Support Tools
  8. Vehicle Integrations

The features that have particularly improved sigo's daily work include improved fleet visibility and better operational tools, among them the dashboards sigo shares with its partners.

Payment management is integrated and pricing configuration is flexible. Customer support has become easier, and new functionality continues to be added based on operational needs.

05 — The outcome

What changed after the migration

Since moving to LISA, sigo has achieved the following.

  • More efficient daily operations
  • Better visibility across the fleet
  • Faster implementation of new features
  • Reduced manual processes
  • Improved customer experience
  • A platform that supports further expansion
  • Multiple lock and station hardware added

Outcomes as reported by sigo green GmbH.

06 — The partnership

How the two teams actually work

The collaboration has been very open and solution-oriented from day one. sigo and LISA work closely together, regularly exchange ideas and discuss improvements based on real operational experience.

One thing that stands out for sigo is LISA's willingness to listen to customer feedback and continuously improve the platform instead of treating it as a finished product. That collaborative approach makes a real difference.

Anna Marie Baum, Operational Lead at sigo green GmbH
“For us, LISA is much more than a software provider. We work together as partners, openly discussing ideas and continuously improving the platform based on real operational experience. Their flexibility, responsiveness and willingness to understand our business have made them an important part of sigo's continued growth.”

Alexander Mythe, CEO of LISA Solutions
“What makes the SIGO partnership particularly exciting is that we are not simply delivering software against a fixed specification. We are developing the platform alongside a customer with a clear vision for how shared mobility should work, and that pushes both the product and the partnership forward.”

07 — What comes next

Built to keep evolving

Over the next few years sigo plans to continue expanding across Germany, working with additional municipalities, housing companies and commercial partners.

The company also wants to grow its fleet, introduce new mobility concepts and further improve the customer experience. Technology will continue to play a central role in that growth, and sigo sees LISA as an important long-term partner that helps it scale efficiently while continuously improving operations and the user experience.
